Equipment

  We use only top-of-the-line professional-grade audio, visual, and lighting equipment.  We have backups for all essential components to keep your show going.

  Depending on the event, we DJ using one or two laptops, one with a DJ controller.  Depending on the event, our music software can range from Serato, VDJ, or iTunes. Karaoke or your video/slideshow is shown on multiple LCD monitors or our large projection screen.

History

  Portable Playlist is owned by Jim and Erin Folker in Mt. Pleasant, IA. We love all kinds of music in many different eras and genres.  We also like almost any type of party and celebration. We have DJ'd almost every type of event and are happy to customize to any itinerary or venue.

We love all types of music!

  We know everyone has his or her favorite types of music, and that having the right songs to fit an occasion is crucial, so we make sure our collection is complete and current.  We have classical, oldies, classic country, new country, classic rock, 80s, metal, rock, hip-hop, rap, techno, the latest heavy-rotation dance/pop songs, and everything in-between.  We also have a large karaoke collection with top-of-the-line brands and new-arrivals added weekly!  We'll play the show you want to hear.  If you'd like us to plan all the music, we can do that.  If there are specific songs you want to hear or sing, let us know at the time of booking, and we'll be sure to have them for your event. And, your guests will be happy to know that we will gladly play requests (as long as they keep the party going!).

Weddings & Receptions

  We realize that no two weddings or receptions are alike.  We expect to provide a very customized plan for each one.  We will work with you to provide exactly the entertainment you want.

  In addition to the music, lights, our standard wedding package includes any announcements, introductions, and dinner music. Karaoke and video or slideshows are also available for an small additional charge.

 

Corporate Events and Private Parties

  We play private parties of all types, with or without karaoke.  This can include anything from class reunions, holiday parties, company picnics, college events, birthdays, graduations, family reunions, etc.  Clean edits of all songs can be played when appropriate or upon request.

 

School and Youth Events (K -12)

  We offer discounted pricing for youth events, such as school dances.  Of course, clean edits will be played for any song that requires it.  We know that dances are a very big deal to students. We do everything possible to make them fun.
