"Jim & Erin are amazing. When looking for a DJ I wanted to work with someone who actually listened to what I wanted, was flexible, affordable, and who would be able to handle situations when guests may push songs or requests we did not want played. Well we basically hit the jackpot. Jim went above and beyond for us- everytime I spoke with him leading up to the wedding he was SO nice and really listened to what I wanted for my reception. He basically customized our reception to reflect exactly what we wanted. He even went as far as to cut our music for our first dance to fit our time frame and it sounded perfect. He also mixed two songs for us and made it sound like one song for the son/mother dance and it sounded incredible (ppl were talking about it long after the reception). During the reception there was a hiccup with some family members trying to push a song we REALLY didn't want played and they handled it with professionalism and only came to me when needed. They let me really be able to enjoy my reception and not have to worry. They handled the overload of song requests perfectly and their own music selection was perfect. Our dance floor was packed from the very first song to the very last. I could go on and on- I HIGHLY recommend!"

"Like any wedding, the music can make or break the experience of so many guests. Luckily, we chose Portable Playlist so the experience was as great as we could have hoped for. Erin and Jim told us from our first conversation that the day wasn't about them, so they weren't going to try to upstage us by playing music that wasn't of interest to us and our guests, and constantly being on the microphone. They both were receptive and open to our timeline and of the music that we wanted played. You didn't need to look any further than the constantly packed dance floor to know that they were holding up to their end of the bargain. In fact, our guest started booing (in jest) at the end of the night after the final song ended because they didn't want the party to end; and Portable Playlist helped make it a party to remember. If you're in the market for DJ services, strongly consider them as they are true professionals."

We had many people ask us about our DJ, and we highly recommended Jim and Erin without hesitation! They really made an effort to understand what I wanted during the reception. This helped me feel comfortable that everything would go smooth, and was one less thing to worry about.
At the reception they did an amazing job. Jim met us outside right as we arrived and assured that our entrances, dances, and speeches went smoothly. "Portable Playlist DJ was awesome. Usually people dont notice the DJ at wedding receptions, but we got quite a few compliments from people about Jim and Erin! And they were so great to work with behind the scenes, as well. They played exactly the type of music we wanted without us spelling it out for them. They worked with us on the timing of all of the little games and special dances that we had between dinner and dancing; knowing the order of events and the timing ahead of time was very important to them. When its your wedding, you dont really have time to think about telling the DJ what to do next! And with Erin and Jim, I didnt have to (which I didnt even realize until the day after!) Totally totally totally recommend. For a great price, too!"

There was a point when Jim came up to me and said they couldn't find my song for the father/daughter dance, but already had a backup in place and it turned out to be a better version than the one I had originally planned for! (Same song, different artist)! I would highly recommend Portable Playlist DJ to any of my friends and/or couples looking to hire a great DJ! "Jim and Erin DJed our wedding in Iowa City, and they were the best DJs we could have possibly hired. They were willing to work with our budget to offer their services at an affordable price, and they guaranteed us six hours, which meant that we didn't have to worry about the dance being cut short. They were fantastic at following the mood of the room and using our requests to create an outstanding playlist. They arrived on time and were completely professional the entire evening. My now-mother-in-law pointed out after the wedding that the volume of the music was perfect: loud enough to create a party atmosphere, but not so loud that people who wanted to converse felt like they had to yell.
